The International Workshop on Environmental Genomics (IWEG) was formed in 2016 to facilitate open exchange of ideas on the application of genomics in environmental analysis. While similar workshops have focused on academic research or niche-oriented uses of environmental genomics, IWEG has been uniquely positioned to spearhead the engagement of regulators and industry representatives as well as academic sector and NGOs. IWEG has covered a wide range of topics over the last 10 years and has generated a community of collaborating experts with a passion for advancing environmental genomics for real-world environmental stewardship. By sharing the latest research advances and working collectively to bridge gaps between research and implementation, IWEG aims to increase the adoption of environmental genomics tools for biodiversity assessment across sectors.
